Condition Spotlight: AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER

ASD has a rainbow of variations. It affects social skills, repetitive behaviors, and communication. It really is a spectrum, and depending on where the person is on the spectrum, they can be highly skilled and gifted or severely challenged.

As a practitioner, I seek to slide my ASD patients along the spectrum and ease their symptoms.

A recent study found that altering the gut microbiome (good bacteria living inside you), actually decreased the incidence of severe autism by 80%! That means that after simply growing some good probiotics in the belly, the majority became less severe. I talk a lot on my posts about the importance of the gut microbiome. We call it the second brain for a reason. Remember, 90% of your serotonin is made in your belly!

I find that many of my patients and their parents simply don’t have the time or resources to implement a complete diet overhaul. Indeed, there are medical diets that are proven to slide patients into the more functional side of the spectrum, but they take significant effort. I know because I’ve tried a few of them.

In such cases, I typically start treatment with utilizing a single natural medicine, either a plant, animal, or mineral. I take into account the totality of the symptoms of the individual. Folks often ask me which natural medicine they should give their kids with ASD. But above all other mental health conditions, it is easy to visualize the individuality of symptoms of ASD. What works for one patient will do nothing for another.

It is a healing process. So find a practitioner who you trust and can establish a relationship with.

A rainbow record of your thoughts and moments you’ve enjoyed. Arcs behind the earth as spectral colors in the void.
